ROP Enhancers
ROP (rate of penetration) enhancers are designed to reduce friction and aid dispersion of solids in water-based drilling fluid systems. Steering response in directional drilling is impacted when drill cuttings accumulate around the bottom hole assembly (BHA). Drilled solids can induce vibration, which in turn reduces the ability of the drill bit to maintain contact with the formation, causing damage to the bit, premature failure of the MWD or steering package, and lost time due to bit replacement.
Shrieve’s ROP enhancers aid in keeping the bit free from a buildup of drilled solids (anti-accretion), reduce torque and drag, and reduce the tendency for bit-balling in reactive formations. This will help to improve the drilling rate and prolong the bit life.
